This restaurant is worth the hype and the line/wait! Probably the best pasta dishes we had during our visit in Italy. Our favorites were the tortellini in parmesan cream and butter & sage. The ragu was good too. Staff were kind and accommodating.
Pasta dishes are truly worth the hype. We had a pasta course in the morning and stayed for lunch wich was a very tasteful experience. All the dishes are kept simple yet uniquely flavored. Just the way a pasta should be. Waiters were attentive and friendly yet the waiting system is focused on efficiency- I. E. You have to write down your own order on a paper… I don’t get the idea behind that. Besides that it was worth the visit. Get there early as there will be a line.
I had high expectations for this restaurant given its popularity and postive reviews. Unfortunately, the food simply did not live up to its online reputation. I ordered the Cordonetti con polpette Lilli & Vagabondo. As you can see in the photo, the pasta was not just 'al dente'—it was undercooked, hard, and stuck together in clumps. After a few bites, I had to ask the server for an explanation. While they did replace the dish, the second serving was only marginally better; several strands of pasta still had that raw, floury taste. The meatballs were also a disappointment. They were made of a very fine meat paste, (in my opinion) which lacked any satisfying texture or 'bite.' More importantly, they were unevenly cooked. One side of the meatball had a burnt, hard crust while the other side was so soft it fell apart instantly—a clear sign they weren't turned properly during frying. Keep in mind, we were the first group in at 11:30 AM, so the kitchen wasn't even busy yet. Having tried several other restaurants in Bologna (both local spots and famous ones), I found them to be much more diligent and flavorful than this. If you’re looking for quality pasta, you’re honestly better off picking a random trattoria on the street.
Very delicious pasta dishes here. I had the lasagna and my wife had the Tagliatelle. Both were well prepared. The top of the lasagna was a little crunchier than I am used to but a little search had me realize that a well prepared one comes like that. In any event, the sauces were good. Service was good. Good came out quick. Also you order by QR code from their menu online.
This was a really cool lunch spot. We were super lucky with our timing. We arrived around 12:10 and by the time we left there was a line around the block. Lasagna Bolognese: 5/5 - one of the best we have had in Italy Sweet Potato Gnocchi: 3/5 - the meat was a little salty but the gnocchi itself was pretty good Torta di Riso: 3/5 - we weren’t a fan of the taste but it was fresh We would definitely come back and sub out the gnocchi and the dessert.
